Pancho Bio - Class 11

Pancho Bio

Ensenada, BC - #1118

Biography

Building on a legendary racing legacy that began in 1985, this Ensenada native claimed both the SCORE Baja 1000 and SCORE Baja 500 Class 11 championships in 2017, cementing his status as one of Mexico's most accomplished desert racers. With six career SCORE Baja 500 victories spanning from 1990 to 2018, he stands among the sport's elite multi-class champions alongside legends like Rod Hall and Ivan Stewart.

The patriarch of Mexico's most successful racing dynasty, he first tasted victory at the 1990 SCORE Baja 500 after five years of determined competition in his self-built Class 9 Challenger. His expertise with VW-powered vehicles has made him a formidable force in both Class 11 and 1600 categories, where his intimate knowledge of Baja's terrain and extensive peninsula connections provide crucial advantages.

His racing philosophy centers on the unique challenges Class 11 vehicles face navigating courses already torn up by more powerful machines. Through decades of competition, he has developed winning strategies that have elevated not only his own career but also guided the next generation of Bio family racers to multiple championships, continuing a racing tradition that has become synonymous with Mexican desert racing excellence.
