     ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico— Fighting for victory in the BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000 is a team effort, which is why several teams decide to join forces, as will happen in November in the marquee SCORE Trophy Truck division, with luxury alliances confirmed to fight for the checkered flag in the fourth and final round of the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship.

     Las Vegas´s Bryce Menzies, 37, is seeking his second overall victory in "The Grandaddy of All Off-Road Races" aboard his No. 1 Menzies Motorsports Mason AWD Ford Raptor. He will now have the support of Christopher Polvoorde, 24, Heber City, Utah, along with 120 people who will assist them in the pits and support vehicles along the 863.19-mile race course.

     Menzies is also trying to win the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship in the SCORE Trophy Truck, as he currently leads with 353 points, the same number of points as Alan Ampudia, 33, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, from Team Papas and Beer.

     Bryce Menzies already has 10 victories in his racing career within “The Desert Monsters,” surpassing legends of Off-Road like Ivan “Ironman” Stewart, Dan Smith, Dave Ashley, Larry “Mr. Baja” Roeseler, Curt LeDuc, Paul Simon, and Dave Simon, who won the 5th SCORE Baja 400, presented by VP Racing.

‘THE LUKE’ AND ‘THE GOAT’, DREAM TEAM

     After winning the overall SCORE Baja 1000 in 2021 and 2022, San Diego’s Luke ‘The Luke’ McMillin, 31, and Las Vegas’ Rob ‘The G.O.A.T.’ MacCachren, 59, finished second in last year’s SCORE Baja 1000, something they don’t want to happen this November, which is why they are already working on the logistics for the iconic race.

     MacCachren is the all-time winningest driver in SCORE Trophy Truck history with 20 career victories, many of them alongside the McMillin family, having teamed up on different occasions with Luke McMillin and his cousin Andy McMillin, who will be driving the No. 83 McMillin Racing Mason AWD Ford Raptor. He will also divide his time with the Fastball Racing team in the No. 11 Jimco AWD Ford Raptor, alongside one of the owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball, Bobby Patton, and another driver to be announced in the coming weeks.

     Luke McMillin, who finished second in the King Shocks 37th SCORE San Felipe 250 in March, later ended up in 13th place at the SCORE Baja 500 and suffered a DNF at the SCORE Baja 400, causing his championship chances to slip away. However, he is aiming for the checkered flag in the SCORE Baja 1000, a race he has already won three times—twice with ‘The G.O.A.T.” and once with Larry ‘Mr. Baja’ Roeseler.

MCNEIL, THE NEW FRIEND OF ‘TAVO’

     Gustavo Tavo Vildosola Jr., 42, Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, is seeking his third overall victory in the SCORE Baja 1000, driving his No. 21 Vildosola Racing AWD Ford Raptor. To enhance his racing team, he has recruited Jason McNeil, 42, El Cajon, Calif., who brings extensive experience in the deserts, mountains, and beaches of the Baja California Peninsula.

     Tavo currently ranks third in the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship with 348 points, following a third-place finish in the SCORE San Felipe 250, a second-place finish in the SCORE Baja 500, and a fifth place in the SCORE Baja 400. Now, he aims for a double win—claiming the SCORE Baja 1000 title and the annual season point championship—to join Apdaly Lopez, 30, Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, as the only Mexican driver to achieve this feat in SCORE Trophy Truck.

FROM SOUTH AFRICA TO THE WORLD

     The African continent will be represented in this SCORE Baja 1000, thanks to Joey Evans, 49, Johannesburg, South Africa, who will participate aboard his KTM No. 742x motorcycle in the Pro Moto Ironman class, which has 235 registered riders to date.

     Evans competed in the prestigious Dakar Rally in 2017, a race that took place in South America, after overcoming an accident in another race held in 2007. He also participated in the Africa Eco Race and crossed the finish line in that event. His goal for 2024 is to participate in and finish the SCORE Baja 1000.

     He is a brand ambassador for KTM in South Africa, wrote a book about his experience in the Dakar Rally titled “From Para to Dakar,” and also gives talks on mindset and how to recover from adverse situations in life.

THE RACE

     From November 11 to 17, the BFGoodrich Tires 57th SCORE Baja 1000 will take place, expecting over 275 teams from 31 states in the U.S., as well as from the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Japan, New Zealand, Poland, South Africa, and host Mexico.  

A RACE COURSE FILLED WITH MYSTERY AND MAGIC

     All participants in the BFGoodrich Tires 57th SCORE Baja 1000 will aim to triumph over a route full of mysticism and magic, measuring 869.13 miles race course for the professional classes of motorcycles and cars, while the Sportsman classes of motorcycles and cars, as well as Classes 7SX and 11, will have to conquer a route of 736.61 miles race course, with a time limit of 36 hours.   

     The start and finish of ‘The Granddaddy of All Desert Races’ will be at the Boulevard Costero in Ensenada adjacent to the Riviera de Ensenada Cultural Center, featuring a ceremonial start, along with timed starting line and finish line for the racers, which will be at Nelson Ranch, 15 miles East of Ensenada.

RACE WEEK SCHEDULE

     The fan-friendly, colorful, contingency row will be split into two days, Wed., Nov. 13, and Thurs., Nov. 14, taking place on the Boulevard Costero in Ensenada, with the first day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT, and the second day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT.

     The green flag will drop for motorcyclists on Friday, Nov. 15, at 12:15 a.m. PT, on Boulevard Costero, while cars will receive the starting flag at 9 a.m. PT.

     The awards celebration will be held on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 12 p.m. PT, in the Cathedral Room, at the Riviera de Ensenada Cultural Center. This event will be led by the official voice of SCORE, Rat Sult, who is already celebrating nine years with SCORE, during which he has shared millions of adventures with the racers and their teams.

THE MEDIA CONFERENCE RETURNS

     After several years without a press conference at the SCORE Baja 1000 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this 2024 will see the return of this event in the Cathedral Room of the Riviera de Ensenada Cultural Center, on Thursday, Nov. 14, starting at 11:30 a.m PT. This event is open to the media and the general public.

     Various stars of SCORE Baja Racing, along with the Grand Marshal of the BFGoodrich Tires 57th SCORE Baja 1000, will be available for interviews and photographs with the press, ahead of what promises to be a unique adventure that will traverse the municipalities of Ensenada, San Quintin, Mexicali, and San Felipe.

THE METHOD RACE WHEELS QUALIFYING

     On Tues., Nov. 12, the Method Race Wheels qualifying for the SCORE Baja 1000 will take place for the SCORE Trophy Truck, SCORE TT Legend, and Trophy Truck Spec classes, starting with practice at 8 a.m. PT, at a private venue, with no spectator access allowed.

     This will determine the starting order in these three classes for the race, marking the first time in SCORE history that all SCORE events will include this activity, aimed at generating greater economic impact for the race venues, such as Ensenada and San Felipe.

     The Method Race Wheels qualifying will be broadcast live on SCORE's official Facebook and YouTube accounts, featuring insights from off-road experts from SCORE's studios in El Cajón, Calif., who will be presenting live times for each participating racer.

ENSENADA, Baja California, México— El pelear por el triunfo en la SCORE Baja 1000 es un trabajo de equipo, razón por la que varios equipos deciden unir fuerzas entre ellos, como sucederá en noviembre próximo en los SCORE Trophy Trucks, al confirmarse alianzas de lujo para pelear por la bandera a cuadros en la cuarta fecha del Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2024 de SCORE.

    Bryce Menzies, de 36 años de edad, y de Las Vegas, Nevada, está buscando su segundo triunfo overall en “La Madre de todas las carreras fuera de camino” a bordo de su Ford Raptor Número 1 Mason de doble tracción del equipo Menzies Motorsports, por lo que ahora contará con el apoyo de Christopher Polvoorde, de Heber City, Utah, sumado a 120 personas que estarán apoyándolos en pits y carros de apoyo a lo largo de la ruta de 863.19 millas.

    Menzies está intentando ganar también el Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2024 de SCORE en los SCORE Trophy Trucks, ya que es el líder con 353 puntos, misma cantidad de puntos que tiene Alan Ampudia, de Ensenada, Baja California, México, del Team Papas and Beer.

    Del 11 al 17 de noviembre se realizará la edición 57 de la BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000, esperando una cifra de más de 275 equipos de 31 estados de los Estados Unidos, así como el territorio estadounidense de Puerto Rico, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Canadá, Chile, República Dominicana, Francia, Japón, Nueva Zelanda, Polonia, Sudáfrica y el anfitrión México.

“EL LUKE” Y “ROB MAC”, DUPLA DE ENSUEÑO

    Tras ganar el overall de la SCORE Baja 1000 en 2021 y 2022, Luke McMillin, de San Diego, California, y Rob “La Cabra” MacCachren, de Las Vegas, Nevada, finalizaron segundos en la última Baja 1000, algo que no quieren suceda en este noviembre próximo, con lo que están ya trabajando en la logística de la legendaria carrera fuera de camino.

    Rob es el máximo ganador en la historia de los SCORE Trophy Trucks con 20 éxitos, varios de ellos, de la mano de la familia McMillin, al unir fuerzas en diferentes ocasiones con Luke McMillin, y su primo Andy McMillin, quien estará al volante del Ford Raptor Número 83 Mason de doble tracción, del equipo McMillin Racing, pero también dividirá su tiempo con el equipo Fastball Racing, en el Ford Raptor Número 11 Jimco de doble tracción, al lado de uno de los dueños de los Dodgers de Los Ángeles en las Grandes Ligas, Bobby Patton, y otro piloto por anunciar en semanas próximas.

    Y Luke McMillin, quien finalizó segundo en la edición 37 de la King Shocks SCORE San Felipe 250 en marzo, luego cerró en el lugar 13 la SCORE Baja 500, y sufrió un abandono en la SCORE Baja 400, por lo que las posibilidades del campeonato se esfumaron para él, pero va por la bandera a cuadros en la SCORE Baja 1000, carrera que ya ha ganado en 3 ocasiones, 2 con “Rob Mac”, y 1 con Larry “Mr. Baja” Roeseler.

MCNEIL, EL NUEVO AMIGO DE “TAVO”

     Gustavo “Tavo” Vildósola Junior, de 42 años de edad, y de Mexicali, Baja California, México, está en la búsqueda de su tercer triunfo overall en la SCORE Baja 1000, a bordo de su Ford Raptor Número 21 Vildósola Racing de doble tracción, por lo que decidió reclutar para su escudería automovilística a Jason McNeil, quien cuenta con mucha experiencia en los desiertos, montañas y playas de la península de Baja California.

    “Tavo” es tercero en el Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2024 de SCORE con 348 puntos, tras un tercer sitio en la SCORE San Felipe 250, un segundo lugar en la SCORE Baja 500 y un quinto puesto en la SCORE Baja 400, pero ahora buscará el doblete, ganar la SCORE Baja 1000 y el título anual, para sumarse al tecatense Apdaly López, como el único piloto mexicano en alcanzar esta hazaña en los SCORE Trophy Trucks.

DE SUDÁFRICA PARA EL MUNDO

    El continente africano contará con representación en esta SCORE Baja 1000, gracias a Joey Evans, de 49 años de edad, y de Johannesburgo, Sudáfrica, quien participará a bordo de su motocicleta KTM Número 742x en la clase Pro Moto Ironman, misma que cuenta con 23 corredores inscritos.

    Evans participó en el prestigiado Rally Dakar en 2017, carrera que se realizó en Sudamérica, tras superar un accidente en otra carrera celebrada en 2007, participando también en el rally África Eco Race y cruzando la meta en esa carrera, por lo que en este 2024, su objetivo es participar y terminar en la SCORE Baja 1000.

    Es embajador de la marca KTM en Sudáfrica, escribió un libro sobre su experiencia en el Rally Dakar, titulado “De Para a Dakar", al igual que ofrece conferencias sobre mentalidad y el cómo recuperarse de situaciones adversas en la vida.

UNA RUTA LLENA DE MISTERIO Y MAGIA

    Todos los corredores participantes en la SCORE Baja 1000, buscarán salir avante de una ruta llena de misticismo y magia, de 869.13 millas para las clases profesionales de motos y carros, mientras que las clases Sportsmans de motos y carros, más la Clase 7SX y 11, tendrán que vencer a   una ruta de 736.61 millas, contando para ello con un tiempo límite de 36 horas.

    La salida y meta de “La Madre de todas las carreras fuera de camino” será el Bulevar Costero de Ensenada, con un arranque ceremonial, y otro punto de comienzo, al igual que llegada en tiempo para los corredores, que será el rancho Nelson.

    En este caso, la bandera verde caerá para los motociclistas el viernes 15 de noviembre a las 12:15 de la noche, tiempo del Pacífico, en el Bulevar Costero, y para los carros, recibirán el banderazo de salida a las 9 de la mañana.

    La revisión mecánica se dividirá en dos días, miércoles 13 de noviembre y jueves 14, evento que se realizará en el Bulevar Costero de Ensenada, con el primer día, de las 9 de la mañana a las 5 de la tarde, y el segundo día, de las 8 de la mañana a las 5 de la tarde.

     Y la ceremonia de premiación se realizará el domingo 17 de noviembre, a las 12 de la tarde, en el Salón Catedral del Centro Social y Cultural Riviera de Ensenada, evento que será encabezado por la voz oficial de SCORE, Rat Sult, quien está celebrando ya 9 años en SCORE, en los que ha compartido millones de aventuras con los corredores, al igual que con sus equipos.

REGRESARÁ LA CONFERENCIA DE PRENSA

     Tras varios años sin conferencia de prensa en la SCORE Baja 1000, a raíz de la pandemia del Covid-19, en este 2024, se vivirá de nuevo esa actividad en el Salón Catedral del Centro Social y Cultural Riviera de Ensenada, durante el jueves 14 de noviembre a partir de las 11:30 de la mañana, evento abierto a los medios de comunicación y al público en general.

    Diferentes estrellas del Off-Road, al igual que el Gran Mariscal de la edición 57 de la BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000, estarán disponibles para entrevistas y fotografías con la prensa, de cara a lo que será una aventura única que pasará por los municipios de Ensenada, San Quintín, Mexicali y San Felipe.

LA CALIFICACIÓN METHOD RACE WHEELS

     El martes 12 de noviembre se realizará la calificación Method Race Wheels de la SCORE Baja 1000 para los SCORE Trophy Trucks, SCORE Trophy Trucks Legend y Trophy Truck Spec, iniciando con prácticas desde las 8 de la mañana en una sede privada, recordando que en este evento no se permitirá el acceso a espectadores.

     De esa manera se definirá el orden de arranque en esas 3 clases para la carrera, siendo esta la primera vez en la historia que todas las fechas de SCORE contarán con esta actividad, pensando en generar una mayor derrama económica de las sedes de las carreras de SCORE, como lo son Ensenada y San Felipe.

     La calificación Method Race Wheels será transmitida en vivo por las cuentas oficiales de SCORE en Facebook y YouTube, con la opinión de expertos del Off-Road desde los estudios de SCORE en El Cajón, California, quienes estarán presentando tiempos en vivo de cada uno de los corredores participantes.
