North Tustin, CA - #2917
Make: Canam Model: X3 Engine: Rotax Engine Builder: Chassis: Murray Racing Transmission: Canam
Building on his championship success with another dominant performance, this North Tustin racer secured his second consecutive class victory in Pro UTV Forced Induction at the 2023 BFGoodrich SCORE Baja 1000 Presented by K&N, cementing his status as one of the premier forced induction pilots in desert racing. The 43-year-old's commanding win followed his earlier second-place podium finish at the 2023 SCORE Baja 500, demonstrating remarkable consistency across both of Baja's most prestigious events.
This latest championship adds to an impressive resume that includes multiple podium appearances, including his standout second-place class finish at the 2020 SCORE Baja 500. Racing alongside co-driver Derek Murray in their Can-Am Maverick X3, the team has established themselves as formidable competitors in the ultra-competitive Pro UTV Forced Induction class. Their fourth-place finish at a previous Baja 1000, despite mechanical challenges including a broken A-arm at Gonzaga Bay that cost them two and a half hours, showcased the team's resilience and mechanical expertise under pressure.
Known for his calculated approach and technical precision, Murray continues to be a driving force in the evolution of UTV desert racing, consistently delivering championship-caliber performances on the peninsula's most demanding courses.
As the driver of record for the No. 2917 Can-Am Maverick, factory racer Jason Murray looked back at the 2023 SCORE World Desert Championship season with pride. He said he never doubted that his Can-Am team, which included his brother, Derek, could take the UTV Overall, even after the disappointing finish at the 2023 SCORE San Felipe 250. Read More

The largest concentration of teams and racers was within the Pro UTV FI, class, and as such, the competition was as tough as the course itself. 2019 SCORE Baja 500 class winner Craig Scanlon, 2019 SCORE Baja 1000 class winner Justin Lambert, 2019 SCORE Baja 400 class winner Wes Miller, and 2019 SCORE Pro UTV FI Class Champion Wayne Matlock were some of the racers wanting to add this 2020 race to their list of accomplishments, but winning it would not be as easy as those other times.
