San Diego, CA - #9X
Building on a proven track record of elite desert racing performance, Ryan Stephens has established himself as one of SCORE's most accomplished competitors from his San Diego base. His standout achievement came at the 2020 SCORE Baja 1000, where he secured a coveted third-place class finish on the podium of the world's most prestigious desert race.
At 47, Stephens represents the seasoned expertise that defines SCORE's competitive landscape during the organization's historic 50th anniversary era. His Baja 1000 podium finish demonstrates the elite-level competitiveness required to excel in what SCORE Magazine calls "the granddaddy of all off-road races" – a grueling test that attracts international competitors from Formula 1, NASCAR, IndyCar, and World Rally Championship backgrounds.
Stephens' success exemplifies the dedication and precision driving that characterizes SCORE's top-tier competition. His proven ability to navigate the challenging Baja Peninsula terrain while maintaining the relentless pace necessary for podium contention places him among the sport's respected veterans. As SCORE continues expanding its global reach and attracting world-class talent, Stephens' consistent performance and deep desert racing experience make him a formidable competitor in the world's premier off-road racing series.
Some new motorcycle teams emerged for the start of the 2021 SCORE season that mixed in with some of the veteran teams in the age classes to put on a great race. Among the Pro Moto Unlimited riders, Derek Aussuerbauer on the 5x bike had learned from his riding during the 2020 season and was at this year’s race to compete. In the class, Shane Redline, father of 16-year old SCORE Trophy Truck racer Jax Redline, showed up with his own 22x team. Competing against the two of them was Ana Rivas from Mexicali, Mexico, who organized the 21x team and was ready to take on San Felipe in the fastest pro moto class. Other teams included the 17x of Brian Wipperman and the 9x team of Ryan Jay Stephens, giving the class a total of five teams competing. Read More
