Based on his extensive involvement in SCORE desert racing operations, Ismael Hernandez brings decades of behind-the-scenes expertise to his racing endeavors. The 46-year-old Escondido resident has been deeply embedded in the SCORE International community, serving as a crucial member of the course personnel team that ensures the safety and success of events like the legendary Baja 1000 and Baja 500.

Hernandez's unique perspective as both an operational insider and competitor gives him an invaluable understanding of race course dynamics, terrain challenges, and strategic positioning that most racers never develop. His work alongside course personnel directors and safety teams has provided him with intimate knowledge of every mile of Baja's punishing peninsula, from the technical sections around Ensenada to the grueling stretches leading into La Paz.

This operational experience translates directly to his racing performance, where his deep understanding of course logistics, checkpoint locations, and terrain variations provides a distinct competitive advantage.
