Biography

Originally from New Jersey, this trauma nurse turned desert racing pioneer made history at the BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500 as the first woman to compete in the grueling Pro Moto Ironman division. After discovering her passion for off-road racing through the documentary "Dust To Glory," she began dirt bike riding in 2014 and quickly progressed to tackling SCORE's most demanding motorcycle challenge.

Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she brought the same determination and quick decision-making skills from her medical career to the unforgiving Baja Peninsula. During her groundbreaking Baja 500 attempt, she faced mechanical failures and equipment issues that would have ended most riders' day. When confronted with a leaky water bladder and broken parts, she made the strategic decision to take the Sportsman loop to ensure a safe finish rather than risk competing alongside faster trucks in deteriorating conditions.

"I have no regrets and still believe it was the right call to make," she reflected after reaching the finish line. "Points or no points, I still made it to the finish and am honored to have been a part of this historical event." Her pioneering effort inspired countless women in motorsports and demonstrated the unwavering spirit that defines Pro Moto Ironman competitors.

Congratulations to Liz Karcz, for being the 2018 SCORE Rookie of the Year, Pro Moto Ironman!
