Biography

Based on the legendary career documented in SCORE's 50th Baja 500 anniversary book, this motorcycle racing icon has carved out one of the most remarkable records in desert racing history. With an incredible 15 Baja 500 class victories spanning from 1980 to 2012, combined with 16 Baja 1000 class wins, he stands among the most successful competitors in SCORE International racing.

At 72 years old, this Wyoming-born racer continues to embody the spirit of Baja adventure that began with his first peninsula expedition in 1966. His racing career officially launched in 1972 at the Mexican International, marking the start of over four decades of dominating SCORE motorcycle classes. Known for his incredible endurance and "Ironman" racing style, he famously completed solo rides including a grueling 26-hour, 840-mile Baja 1000 marathon.

Racing on a shoestring budget while competing against factory teams, his 36 total SCORE class victories represent pure determination and skill. From sleeping in desert washes during his early beer-budget racing days to mastering the peninsula's evolving terrain, this Oceanside resident has witnessed and conquered every era of Baja racing evolution, cementing his legacy as one of SCORE's most enduring champions.
