Tijuana's Erik Ruiz carved his name into SCORE desert racing history with a dominant 2017 campaign that showcased his exceptional quad racing prowess across Baja's most challenging terrain. His breakout season reached its pinnacle with an overall victory at the inaugural SCORE Tijuana Desert Challenge, where he conquered the demanding loop course format in the Sportsman Quad class, helping establish this new race as a cornerstone event in SCORE's championship series.

Just months earlier, Ruiz demonstrated his elite-level capabilities by securing second place overall at the legendary SCORE Baja 500, earning a coveted podium finish in one of desert racing's most prestigious events. His consistent performance throughout the grueling 500-mile Baja Peninsula course proved his ability to compete with the sport's finest competitors while maintaining the precision and endurance required for SCORE's marathon-style racing format.
