Biography

A veteran of the brutal Baja peninsula, this Utah-based desert racer has carved out an impressive career in SCORE's most demanding competitions. In the 2017 50th BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000, Dawson piloted his #157 Custom-Chevy Class 1 unlimited single-seater alongside co-drivers Dustin Miller, Boe Bland, and Preston Schmid through the punishing 1,134-mile course from Ensenada to La Paz. The legendary race featured 404 entries from 44 U.S. states and 28 countries, representing one of the most competitive fields in SCORE history.

Dawson's approach to desert racing emphasizes teamwork and preparation, understanding that success in events like the Baja 1000 requires flawless execution across every aspect of the operation. His Class 1 machine represents the pinnacle of unlimited open-wheel desert racing, where speeds can exceed 100 mph across some of the most challenging terrain on Earth. The 2017 Baja 1000 course tested every competitor with its diverse challenges, from technical rocky sections to high-speed desert runs, fog-shrouded coastal highways, and the infamous silt beds that can swallow entire vehicles.
