Jimco and Fastball Racing Join Forces with Rob MacCachren

New Program To Debut At This Weekend's SCORE San Felipe 250

SANTEE, CALIF. (March 18, 2024) – Created as a joint effort between Jimco Racing, Fastball Racing and MacCachren Motorsports and a host of top-tier partners, off-road racing’s most accomplished driver will pilot a factory Jimco all-wheel drive Trophy-Truck for entire 2024 SCORE Desert World Championship season. Beginning at this week’s 37th SCORE San Felipe 250, Rob MacCachren will take on four SCORE desert races piloting the #11 Jimco Trophy-Truck in the sport’s premiere category.

Jimco and Fastball Racing’s 2024 desert campaign will be supported by team partners Fox Shox, BFGoodrich, Vision Wheel, KC HiLites and VP Fuels.

Today’s announcement marks the official return of MacCachren to the Jimco family, having competed with late Jimco Racing company owner Robbie Pierce in the mid-2000s. The news comes just a year after the Navarro family took over operations of the iconic off-road racing brand.

“After nearly 50 years as one of the sport’s most iconic manufacturers, today’s announcement really represents the next evolution of this company,” explained Jimco owner Rafael Navarro III. “The top echelon of the sport is more competitive than at any time in off-road racing history. This new program provides Jimco and our next generation of Trophy-Trucks the very best opportunity to get us back to the winner’s circle. We are very grateful to Bobby Patton of Fastball Racing for his support and commitment in helping make this program a reality.”

Jimco Racing is currently building a second factory two-wheel drive Trophy-Truck for Patton scheduled to debut at September’s SCORE Baja 400. The clean-sheet design represents Jimco’s fourth generation unlimited truck and marks the second new design collaboration between Barry Karakas and Rafael Navarro IV.

A field of 39 SCORE Trophy-Trucks will lead the pack of over 260 entries expected in Baja for the SCORE San Felipe 250. Round one of the four-race 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship will be held next Wednesday through Sunday on a rugged 285.69-mile racecourse in and around the coastal village of San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico.

At 59 years young, MacCachren will arrive to the San Felipe 250 with an all-time record of 20 victories in the SCORE Trophy-Truck division. A 2011 inductee in the prestigious Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame, Rob’s unmatched list of career achievements includes an impressive resume of six overall victories at the SCORE San Felipe 250 (2003, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2017, 2018). For MacCachren, the 2011 and 2012 San Felipe victories came behind the wheel of #20 Jimco factory Trophy-Truck.

Legendary off-road racing tire manufacturer BFGoodrich (longtime Jimco partner and MacCachren supporter) is also a race record holder, having posted 31 overall San Felipe 250 wins in the race’s 36-year history.

“We knew this partnership could work after Rob drove the new all-wheel drive for the first time,” added Jimco President Rafael Navarro IV. “He drove it less than 50 miles, got out and told us we could win with this truck. That moment confirmed that we had something special.”

Since that time, the Jimco team has logged hundreds of miles of serious desert testing and are confident MacCachren will come to San Felipe armed with a competitive machine.

As an interesting sidebar to history, former MacCachren team owner and driving partner Mark Post will be honored as this weekend’s race Grand Marshal. The duo not only won the 2007 SCORE San Felipe 250, but also that year’s 40th anniversary SCORE Baja 1000.

Jimco will also be represented in the front-running Class 1 open-wheel category, with five of the company-built unlimited machines competing in San Felipe. This year’s Jimco line-up includes two Wilson Motorsports entries for Kyle Quinn (#138) and Brad Wilson (#158), the #127 Jimco of Cody Parkhouse, Al Torres in the #101 Jimco and Alberto Varela of Tijuana, Mexico driving the #133 Class 1 machine. A Jimco Class 1 of Mario Fuentes and Mafuzar Motorsports just earned the category victory at the recent BFGoodrich Mint 400 race in Las Vegas.
