These spectacular destinations throughout Baja California Sur showcase the peninsula’s majestic landscapes, stretching between the waters of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean.

LUKE ONE STEP AWAY FROM A PERFECT SEASON

Luke McMillin is writing one of the most remarkable stories in SCORE history, with three consecutive victories in the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship behind the wheel of his No. 83 McMillin Racing Ford Raptor Mason AWD. His winning streak began in March at the King Shocks 39th SCORE San Felipe 250 in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico, followed by victories in June at the BFGoodrich Tires 58th SCORE Baja 500 and in September at the 7th SCORE Baja 400, with both races held in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.

With 335 points, McMillin, son of living SCORE and Baja racing legend Mark McMillin, is one step away from capturing his third championship in the SCORE Trophy Truck class, known as the ‘Monsters of the Desert,’ after previously winning titles in 2020 and 2022. Luke is also an official BFGoodrich Tires athlete. BFGoodrich is the official tire of SCORE International and the winningest tire manufacturer in SCORE Baja 1000 history, with 34 overall victories.

With three consecutive victories this season, McMillin has matched a remarkable feat previously accomplished by Robby ‘Rocket’ Gordon in 1996, Curt LeDuc in 1997, Bryce Menzies in 2023 and Ensenada's Alan Ampudia in 2025. All four drivers went on to capture the SCORE Trophy Truck championship in their respective seasons. The premier class was created in 1994 by ‘The Godfather of Off-Road Racing,’ former SCORE owner Sal Fish.

Second in the SCORE Trophy Truck standings is Bryce Menzies, 40, Las Vegas, with 309 points. Driving his No. 7 Menzies Motorsports Ford Raptor Mason AWD Gen 1, Menzies has recorded three consecutive podium finishes this season, placing third at the SCORE San Felipe 250, third at the SCORE Baja 500 and second at the SCORE Baja 400.

Alan Ampudia, 35, Ensenada, Mexico, holds third place in off-road racing's elite class with 296 points. Behind the wheel of his No. 1 Team Papas and Beer Ford Raptor Mason AWD, Ampudia has finished 10th at the SCORE San Felipe 250, second at the SCORE Baja 500 and fourth at the SCORE Baja 400, showcasing his aggressive driving style across the challenging and unpredictable terrain of Mexico's Baja California peninsula.

BALDI EYES BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

Sam Baldi, 61, Beaumont, Calif., leads the SCORE Trophy Truck 2WD class in its second year of existence with 328 points behind the wheel of his No. 1T Ford Raptor Baldi. Baldi has earned three consecutive podium finishes this season, placing second at both the SCORE San Felipe 250 and SCORE Baja 500, followed by a third-place finish at the SCORE Baja 400, keeping him firmly in contention for a second straight class championship.

Baldi, a highly experienced off-road racer and former Class 1 driver, won the most recent SCORE Baja 1000 that featured both the start and finish on Boulevard Costero in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. He now has his sights set on repeating that achievement at the 59th edition of the legendary race known as the Granddaddy of All Desert Races.

Mike Perez, 43, Houston, an athlete representing King Shocks, the official shock absorber of SCORE International, sits second in the SCORE Trophy Truck 2WD standings with 302 points. Perez finished 12th at the SCORE San Felipe 250 and 10th at the SCORE Baja 500 before earning a runner-up finish at the SCORE Baja 400, SCORE's newest race, behind the wheel of his No. 95T VM Racing Chevy Silverado Brenthel.

VILDOSOLA EYES FIFTH CONSECUTIVE CHAMPIONSHIP

In the SCORE Trophy Truck Legend class, for drivers over 50 years of age competing in a SCORE Trophy Truck, Gustavo ‘Gus’ Vildosola Sr., 73, Mexicali, Mexico, and living Supercross legend Ricky Johnson, 62, El Cajon, Calif., are chasing their fifth consecutive class championship. The duo leads the standings with 303 points, highlighted by back-to-back victories at the BFGoodrich Tires 58th SCORE Baja 500 in June and the 7th SCORE Baja 400 in September, with both races held in the Ensenada municipality of Baja California, Mexico.

Vildosola and Johnson opened the season with an unexpected sixth-place finish at the King Shocks 39th SCORE San Felipe 250 in March. However, their No. 1L Vildosola Racing Ford Raptor Mason AWD came roaring back in the second half of the season, and the legendary SCORE Baja 1000 Cabo-to-Cabo race will give them an opportunity to achieve another historic double: a fifth straight class championship and another SCORE Baja 1000 victory.

Holding second place in the standings are David Payne, 65, St. Louis, Mo., and Larry ‘Mr. Baja’ Roeseler, 69, Boulevard, Calif., with 296 points after the first three rounds of the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship. Driving their No. 61L Payne Racing Chevy Silverado Mason AWD, the duo has enjoyed a strong season, highlighted by a spectacular victory at the SCORE San Felipe 250 and a third-place finish at the SCORE Baja 500.

GAUGHAN DREAMS OF CAPTURING CLASS 1 CHAMPIONSHIP

Returning to his off-road racing roots after several seasons competing in various NASCAR series, one of Las Vegas favorite racing sons, Brendan Gaughan, 51, is one step away from capturing his first SCORE Class 1 championship. Gaughan leads the standings with 316 points, following three consecutive podium finishes this season.

Gaughan has teamed up with Tim Wilson, 29, Henderson, Nev., behind the wheel of the No. 162 South Point Racing HMS-Chevy. The duo has claimed victories at the SCORE San Felipe 250 and SCORE Baja 500, along with a runner-up finish at the SCORE Baja 400. Now, they have one clear mission: to complete a dream double by capturing the Class 1 championship and winning the legendary Granddaddy of All Desert Races in San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

FOX HOLDS SLIM LEAD IN SCORE TROPHY TRUCK SPEC

In the SCORE Trophy Truck Spec class, only 14 points separate championship leader Brent Fox from the sixth-place driver, making this one of the closest championship battles in the history of the class. No driver has managed to win more than one race this season, adding even more excitement to the title fight heading into the SCORE Baja 1000.

Fox leads the standings with 359 points behind the wheel of his No. 283 Fox Construction 1 Nine Industries-Chevy. His consistent season includes a fourth-place finish at the SCORE San Felipe 250, a runner-up finish at the SCORE Baja 500 and another fourth-place result at the SCORE Baja 400. Nearly a year ago, Fox captured a victory at the legendary SCORE Baja 1000 in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, known as the ‘Off-Road Capital of the World.’

Defending SCORE Trophy Truck Spec champion Justin Davis, 33, Colton, Calif., sits second in the championship standings with 356 points. Driving his No. 285 Green Army Motorsports TSCO-Chevy, Davis has recorded a third-place finish at the SCORE San Felipe 250, fifth place at the SCORE Baja 500 and another third-place result at the SCORE Baja 400.

PRO UTV OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP TOO CLOSE TO CALL

The Pro UTV Open class features a tie at the top of the championship standings, with Dallas Gonzalez and Ethan Groom both holding 331 points. Both drivers are competing this season in Polaris UTVs, with Polaris serving as the official UTV of SCORE International. The championship battle is setting the stage for a Hollywood-style showdown at the upcoming SCORE Baja 1000 Cabo to Cabo.

Gonzalez, 20, Fort Mohave, Ariz., has earned two podium finishes in the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship behind the wheel of his No. 1851 Polaris RZR Pro R. His results include third-place finishes at the SCORE San Felipe 250 and SCORE Baja 400, along with a fifth-place finish at the SCORE Baja 500.

Groom, 19, Temecula, Calif., a member of the factory-backed Polaris/SCI Motorsports team, is living out a childhood dream while continuing his studies in California and competing against some of the world's best off-road racers. Behind the wheel of his No. 1874 Polaris RZR Pro R Factory, Groom bounced back from a ninth-place finish at the SCORE San Felipe 250 to claim third place at the legendary SCORE Baja 500, followed by a runner-up finish at the SCORE Baja 400, SCORE's newest race.

MORE SCORE CHAMPIONSHIP LEADERS

In Class 3, R.J. Zannon, 36, Long Beach, Calif., leads the championship standings with 245 points behind the wheel of his No. 301 Ford Bronco. Zannon has claimed victories at the SCORE San Felipe 250 and SCORE Baja 400, despite failing to finish the SCORE Baja 500. Meanwhile, in Class 7, Dan Chamlee, 64, San Felipe, Mexico, has earned podium finishes in all three rounds of the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship. Driving his Ford Ranger Chamlee, Chamlee has accumulated 310 points, with victories at the SCORE San Felipe 250 and SCORE Baja 400, along with a runner-up finish at the SCORE Baja 500.

In Class 1/2-1600, Daniel Goodrich, 31, Chula Vista, Calif., leads the standings with 239 points. Driving his Volkswagen-powered Bunderson buggy, Goodrich finished second at the SCORE San Felipe 250, suffered a DNF at the SCORE Baja 500 and bounced back to capture victory at the SCORE Baja 400. In Class 5 Unlimited, Jesse Astorga, 37, Fontana, Calif., and Blake Wilkey, 37, Ramona, Calif., share the championship lead with 250 points, following two impressive victories in the deserts of Baja California at the SCORE San Felipe 250 and SCORE Baja 500. However, their winning streak came to an unexpected end at the SCORE Baja 400, where mechanical problems forced them to retire from the race.

In Class 11, Eric Solorzano, 66, Tijuana, Mexico, leads the championship standings with 190 points, highlighted by his victory at the SCORE Baja 500 in June. Solorzano is one of only two Mexicans inducted into the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame, alongside businessman Nico Saad, another living legend of the sport who has played a major role in promoting sporting events and tourism in Ensenada, Baja California, for more than 50 years.
