    ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico – Long recognized as the family motorsport that it is, among the newest entries for next month’s 33rd annual SCORE San Felipe 250 in Baja California, Mexico are not only several brothers but also father/daughter racers Magness, mother/son racers Reid and husband/wife racers Matlock all entered in separate classes.

     With many of the sport’s top stars among the first 84 official entries as of today from 19 U.S. States, host country Mexico along with the additional countries of Canada, Finland, Italy and New Zealand, Mango Racing’s Gary Magness (SCORE Trophy Truck) and his daughter Chelsea Magness (Trophy Truck Spec) are both entered as driver of record along with Shelby Reid (Class 1) and her son Cody Reid (Class 10) and Wayne Matlock (Pro UTV FI) and his wife Kristen Matlock (Pro UTV NA).

     Featuring a rugged race-record long course of 350 miles, the season-opening event of the four-race internationally-televised 2019 SCORE World Desert Championship will be held April 3-7 in San Felipe, the picturesque peaceful fishing village on the Sea of Cortez, 125 miles south of the U.S. Border at Calexico, Calif.

     Featuring classes for cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and quads, the race will air domestically on the ABC Network’s World of X Games show.

     All four 2019 SCORE races will be held on Mexico’s magnificent Baja California peninsula for the fourth consecutive year.

     Celebrating the 33rd anniversary of the youngest of the three legendary SCORE Baja races, sometimes referred to as the SCORE ‘baby Baja’, entries are being accepted on the SCORE website under Race Info atwww.SCOREInternational.com for Pro and Sportsman entries for cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and quads.

     Pre-race festivities will be held in San Felipe on April 3, 4 and 5 with race day on Saturday, April 6 concluding with the post-race awards fiesta at Noon PT on Sunday, April 7.

     The colorful pre-race contingency and Manufacturer’s Midway, the starting line and the finish line will be on the Malecon in the heart of San Felipe for the third straight year. Contingency will be held on two days for the first time in the history of this race with classes split with some going through the line on Wednesday (April 4) and the balance, including the marquee SCORE Trophy Truck division, going through  on Thursday (April 5). The post-race awards celebration will be held on the start/finish line ramp on the Malecon.

     The deadline to enter in time to be in the drawing for starting positions within each class is 8 p.m. PT on Tuesday, March 26.

     Prominent American businessman and film producer Gary Magness, 65 of Denver, and his daughter Chelsea Magness, 31, a fashion industry expert from Denver, have been solid SCORE regulars for over a decade.

     Gary Magness, and investor with significant roots in telecommunications and cattle ranching, is a regular in the marquee SCORE Trophy Truck division where he finished third in the season point standings in 2016.  He was 10th in the standings last season in Mango Racing’s No. 45 Ford F-150 SCORE Trophy Truck.

     Chelsea Magness, who finished 10th out of 36 starters in SCORE Trophy Truck last year as a substitute driver for her father, races currently in the Trophy Truck Spec class in the No. 232 Mango-Chevy. She won the SCORE season point title in 2012 in the Protruck class.

     So Cal’s Shelby Reid, 51, and her son Cody Reid, 26 (from Apple Valley), are veteran SCORE desert racers and both are former SCORE season class point champions in different classes.

     Shelby Reid won the unlimited Class 1 season point championship in 2015 and will be in San Felipe in her No. 168 PRI/Jefferies-Chevy. Former SCORE overall point champion Dale Ebberts, Wilton, Calif., will be her second driver for this race.

     Cody Reid is always among the leaders in Class 10 and he has won two season SCORE Class 10 season point championships in both 2014 and 2015. He drives the No. 1068 Alumi Craft-Chevy.

     Last year in San Felipe, Shelby was fifth out of 13 starters in Class 1 and Cody was third out of 19 starters in Class 10.

     Clearly the most prolific husband/wife racers in last year’s SCORE World Desert Championship, Wayne Matlock, 41, and his wife Kristen Matlock, 38, from Alpine, Calif., are another pair of veteran SCORE desert racers and both had superlative seasons in 2018 racing in two separate UTV classes. The Matlocks also have two young children, both boys.

     With two race wins and two second-place finishes, Wayne Matlock was the 2018 SCORE Overall season point champion while winning the Pro UTV FI (Forced Induction) class in his No. 2971 Polaris RZR XP4 Turbo. Wayne Matlock has won six SCORE class season point championships in his illustrious career, the first five on a quad and he has six class wins in the SCORE San Felipe 250, four on a quad and the last two in the Pro UTV FI class.

     Kristen Matlock finished third in the season points in the Pro UTV NA (Naturally Aspirated) last year after starting the season with two impressive class victories. In last year’s SCORE Baja 500 she was also the overall UTV winner, defeating over 50 UTVs in the race.

     In last year’s SCORE San Felipe 250, the Matlocks each won their respective classes and Kristen finished as the second overall UTV behind her husband Wayne, just three minutes difference between them.

    While three racers have three overall victories in the SCORE San Felipe 250, Las Vegas’ Hall of Fame racer Rob MacCachren might have set a standard that will last for awhile, unless he breaks his own record of six overall wins, all in SCORE Trophy Truck.

     MacCachren, who won the overall in San Felipe last year to give him 10 class wins in this race, earned his first SCORE Trophy Truck overall in this race in 2003 when he split the driving with Mexico’s Gustavo Vildosola Sr and his second in 2007 when he split the driving with Mark Post.

     MacCachren earned back-to-back wins in 2011 and 2012 driving solo and again back-to-back winning his fifth in 2017 and his sixth last year driving solo again in his No. 11 MacCachren Motorsports Rockstar Ford F-150.

     SCORE Trophy Truck, the marquee SCORE racing division for high-tech, 950-horsepower unlimited custom trucks leads the early entry list with 22 vehicles (including five SCORE TT Legend entries) in the lineup so far.      SCORE has confirmed that the 2019 SCORE World Desert Championship will be televised on the ABC TV family of networks, marking the first time back on the ABC network since the 1967 and 1968 coverage of the Baja 1000 on ABC’s old Wide World of Sports show.

     The one-hour shows on the 33rd SCORE San Felipe 250, 51st SCORE Baja 500 and the 52nd SCORE Baja 1000 will be televised as part of ABC’s World of X Games year-long programming.      SCORE also announced that the inaugural Lucerna SCORE Baja 400 next September will air as a one-hour special on ESPN TV.

     Hall of Fame racer Cameron Steele’s popular ‘Trail of Missions’ show has been shown as part of ABC’s World of X Games series for the past several years.
