    POMONA, Calif., USA—Another radically rugged race route for November’s 52nd SCORE Baja 1000 was unveiled Saturday at the SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit area in Building 5 at the Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif. The popular consumer show concludes Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (PT).
THE RACE
Over 250 entries, from 30 U.S. States and 15 countries are expected to compete in this year’s 52nd annual SCORE Baja 1000.
The world’s most iconic, oldest, prestigious, toughest and longest continuously held desert race, this year’s SCORE Baja 1000 will start and finish in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. This year’s SCORE Baja 1000 will be a loop race of 799.1 miles in the northern state of Mexico’s majestic Baja California peninsula.
It will start for the 45th time and finish for the 26th time in Ensenada and dates for the race and race week festivities are Nov. 19 through Nov. 24. The race is annually the finale of the four-race SCORE World Desert Championship, which has been held exclusively for the past four years in Baja California.
The race festivities will be held in and around the historic Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in the heart of Ensenada and the start and finish of the legendary race will be in front of the Riviera in the heart of Ensenada.
With a total time limit of 34 hours in the elapsed-time race, the motorcycle and quad classes will start at 4 a.m. (PT) on Friday, Nov. 22 and the car, truck and UTV classes will follow with their start on at 10:30 a.m. (PT).
Pre-running on the official race course is scheduled to open on Saturday, Oct. 26. The course will run in a counter-clockwise direction after the two-way section to the Ojos Negro area and down along the Pacific Ocean and around near San Felipe before heading back up through Laguna Salada, La Rumorosa, the Pine Forest and back to Ojos Negro and the finish in Ensenada.

THE EXPO
The colorful and extensive 52nd SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit area in Building 5 is once again offering desert-racing and off-road performance fans the opportunity to interact with many of the top desert racers in the world and legends of the sport while enjoying viewing the most radical motorsports vehicles ever developed from the past and the present.
BOOK SIGNING—‘Racing Into History II-SCORE Baja 500 50th Anniversary’
As a special added attraction to the SCORE Baja 1000 Exhibit at this year’s event is a pair of book signing sessions to help launch the sale of the new 432-page hard-cover book entitled ‘Racing Into History II’, a pictorial celebration of BFGoodrich Tires 50th SCORE Baja 500 in 2018.
While the elaborate book, which features a historical records section as well, is on sale both days the showcase book signing sessions will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. PT on both Saturday and Sunday at the Expo.
The SCORE Baja 500 50th anniversary book compliments last year’s SCORE Baja 1000 50th SCPRE Baja 1000 anniversary book for a magnificent two-book set showcasing the history and the legend of the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Organization.
Many legends, past and present, will appear at the two SCORE Baja 500 ‘Racing Into History II’—SCORE Baja 500 50th Anniversary book-signing sessions.
Among the legends, scheduled to appear at the SCORE Baja 500 ‘Racing Into History II’ book-signing sessions are iconic former SCORE owner Sal Fish, legendary Hall of Fame racers Ivan ‘Ironman’ StewartWalker EvansCurt LeDucDoug Robertson and former SCORE Trophy Truck race champion Roger Norman and current SCORE star racers are Rob MacCachrenCameron SteeleJustin MorganMark SamuelsSara PriceWayne MatlockKristen MatlockMarc Burnett, Wes Miller and Dennis Hollenbeck. SCORE also expects some other ‘surprise’ SCORE Baja racing legends as well for the two autograph sessions including several of the popular Monster girls.
Available for both photos and autographs, the current SCORE stars will be available from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday and the SCORE legends will be at the exhibit from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. MacCachren, the all-time leading SCORE Trophy Truck race winner with 17 career race wins, will be part of both autograph sessions on Saturday.
AMAZING VEHICLES
The SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit will includes several prominent vehicles on display as well anchored by the restored original Oldsmobile-powered Baja Boot specialty off-road racing vehicle driven by Bud Ekins and Guy Jones to victory in the inaugural Baja 500 in 1969. The legendary vehicle was originally built by General Motors’ Vic Hickey.
Representing several classes that compete in the SCORE World Desert Championship in the exhibit area are Troy Herbst’s No. 54 Terrible Herbst Motorsports SCORE Trophy Truck and a Herbst/Smith Fab Trophy Truck Spec.
Marc Burnett has his Monster Energy Can-Am X3 Pro UTV FI (Forced Induction) on display and Dennis Hollenbeck has his special Class 11 VW Sedan in the exhibit.
The No. 1x Honda CRF450X bike of Justin Morgan/Mark Samuels, which they have ridden to seven straight SCORE race wins is in the area as is the Warrior Built Sportsman motorcycle which salutes and is comprised of several military veterans.

The 2019 Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo is once again the largest and greatest collection of off-road companies, parts, equipment, gear, and experts assembled in America. ABC TV IN 2019
The 2019 SCORE World Desert Championship is being televised on the ABC TV family of networks, marking the first time back on the ABC network since the 1967 and 1968 coverage of the Baja 1000 on ABC’s old Wide World of Sports show.
The one-hour shows on the 33rd SCORE San Felipe 250, 51st SCORE Baja 500 and the 52nd SCORE Baja 1000 are being televised as part of ABC’s World of X Games year-long programming. Presented by SCORE sponsors Monster Energy and BFGoodrich Tires, the ABC World of X Games series profiles iconic action sports figures and also highlights athletes, artists, event previews and recaps.
The inaugural Lucerna SCORE Baja 400 will air as a one-hour special on ESPN TV, also on the World of X Games programming. The first airing is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1:30 p.m. PT and 2:30 p.m. ET.
