    POMONA, Calif., USA—Another radically rugged race route for November’s BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts, was unveiled Saturday at the SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit area in Building 7 at the eBay Motorsports Off-Road Expo at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif. The popular consumer show concludes Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (PT).
THE RACE
Nearly 275 entries, from 40 U.S. States and 20 countries are expected to compete in this year’s legendary Granddaddy of All Desert Races.
The world’s most iconic, oldest, prestigious, toughest and longest continuously held desert race, this year’s SCORE Baja 1000 will start and finish in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. It will be a loop race of 828.25 miles in the northern state of Mexico’s majestic Baja California peninsula.
It will start for the 48th time and finish for the 28th time in Ensenada and dates for the race and race week festivities are Nov. 15 through Nov. 20. The race is annually the finale of the four-race SCORE World Desert Championship, which has been held exclusively for the past seven years in Baja California.
The race festivities will be held in and around the historic fan-friendly Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in the heart of Ensenada and the start and finish of the legendary race will be in front of the Riviera in the heart of Ensenada.
With a total time-limit of 36 hours in the elapsed-time race, the motorcycle and quad classes will start in front of the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center at 3:30 a.m. (PT) on Friday, Nov. 18 and the car, truck and UTV classes will follow with their start in front of the Riviera at 9:15 a.m. (PT).
Pre-running on the official race course will open on Saturday, Oct. 29.
THE RACE COURSE
The 828.25-mile race course for the BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts, runs in a clockwise after the first part to and then back and back from Ojos Negros. It goes up and over the Cordillera de Molina to drop into the desert around Rm 115.
After hitting the Ventana area it will run south to the El Chinero road crossing highway 3 at Km 192 and will keep going south to Matomi wash. Halfway into Matomi Wash it exits and goes north to Azufre Wash, then to Huatamote wash, Chanate Wash and up to Morelia Junction.
From there the course will exit the desert and go to San Matias Pass road and Mike’s Sky Rancho, down to Rancho La Jolla and will run on the San Pedro Martir road to Meling Ranch. After Meling it will run to the Pacific Coast to Ejido Jaramillo and north to San Vicente where it will cross back to Valley de Trinidad then back to Ojos Negros and onto to the finish line in Ensenada.
For safety reasons, all of the Sportsman classes along with Class 11 and Class 7SX will run a reduced course of 782.49 miles.

ONLINE RACER/MEDIA REGISTRATION
     SCORE also announced Saturday that online racer and media registration for this year’s SCORE Baja 1000 are now open through Wednesday, Nov. 2 on the SCORE website. Racer registration is under Race Info and media registration applicated may be accessed through the MEDIA tab on the home page of the SCORE website.
Entries who competed in the recent SCORE Baja 400 will start in the order they finished for the SCORE Baja 1000, followed by entries who were DNFs in the SCORE Baja 400.
A drawing for the remaining starting positions will be held for all entries who did not race in the SCORE Baja 400 that will be posted on the SCORE website on Thursday, Nov. 10.
THE EXPO
The colorful and extensive SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit area in Building 7 is once again offering desert-racing and off-road performance fans the opportunity to interact with many of the top desert racers in the world and legends of the sport while enjoying viewing the most radical motorsports vehicles ever developed from the past and the present.
GRAND MARSHAL INTRO
SCORE also announced on Saturday that the Grand Marshal for the BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts, will be Hall of Fame SCORE motorcycle champion Scot Harden.
Harden, 66, born and raised in Las Vegas and currently living in Temecula Valley, Calif., is a legendary professional desert motorcycle racer with a 50-year career as a world champion racer and motorcycle industry executive.
He has also held managerial and executive positions at Husqvarna, KTM, BMW, and Zero Motorcycles.
In his career Harden captured two SCORE Baja 1000 overall victories, three SCORE Baja 500 wins, two wins in the SCORE Parker 400 and he also won the 1979 SCORE Pro Moto Unlimited (Class 22) season point championship.
He also was a three-time International Six-Day Enduro (ISDE) medalist, earning a gold, silver and bronze in the early 1980s. In 1996, Harden finished sixth in the Pike’s Peak Hill Climb in Colorado to earn Rookie of the Year honors for that year.
Harden has been inducted into three halls of fame, the American Motorcyclist Association Hall Of Fame in 2008, the Trailblazers HOF in 2020 and the Hot Shoe HOF in 2020.
Currently, in addition to mentoring novice riders and hosting a variety of trail rides, Harden also co-produces with legendary SCORE Baja champion Johnny Campbell the annual ‘Handstands at 100mph’ charity event honoring desert and Baja motorcycle racing legends.
AMAZING VEHICLES
      The SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit includes several prominent vehicles on display as well anchored by the vintage restored original VW-powered Sandmaster unlimited Class 1 open-wheel desert race car driven by Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame inductee Bobby Ferro (Class of 2019). Ferro won the SCORE Baja 500 four times and the SCORE Baja 1000 twice. He drove solo in the 1971 SCORE Baja 1000 to victory in that year’s race from Ensenada to La Paz.
Representing several current classes that compete in the SCORE World Desert Championship in the exhibit area is one of the Terrible Herbst Motorsports Trophy Truck Spec trucks built by Herbst/Smith Fab.
Another feature vehicle on display is a Chevy-powered Jimco unlimited Class 1 open-wheel desert race car from the stable of vehicles of prominent Wilson Motorsports of Long Beach, Calif. A three-generation team of SCORE desert racers, current drivers include Brad Wilson, Brian Wilson, Ronny Wilson and Kyle Quinn.
Nick Hamm’s Warrior Built Foundation Sportsman motorcycle and Class 11 VW Sedan which salute and are comprised of several military veterans as drivers/riders is on display.
SoCal’s Brenthel Industries also has one of their unique race trucks on display.

ESPN TV NETWORKS AGAIN IN 2022
For the fourth straight year, the 2022 SCORE World Desert Championship races will air on the ESPN family of networks. The four-races will air as specials on the World of X Games program on ESPN2.
ABC first covered the 1967 and 1968 Baja 1000 races on the old ABC Wide World of Sports show with Jim McKay and again in the late 1980s with veteran motorsports journalists Sam Posey and Jack Arute.
All of the SCORE race coverage shows also continue to air internationally in nearly 25 countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America and South America via syndication and ESPN International.
