     ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico—With entries rapidly pouring in from across the USA and around the world, Larry ‘Mr. Baja’ Roeseler, Paul Weel/Toby Price, Cameron Steele, Bobby Pecoy, Eric Solorzano, Chad Hall, Wayne Matlock, Kristen Matlock, Britney Myers/Tamara Myers, Giovanni Spinali and Robby Pierce/Bobby Patton are all among the earliest entries for November’s iconic internationally-televised season-ending BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts, the season finale of the four-race 2022 SCORE World Desert Championship.
    Starting and finishing in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, race-week festivities and the race itself will be held Nov. 15-20.
The SCORE Baja 1000 is at the pinnacle of motorsports as the most iconic, oldest, prestigious, toughest and longest continuously held desert race in the world.
This year’s race will be a loop race of 828.25 miles around Baja California, starting and finishing in Ensenada.

Racer entry applications are now available at www.SCORE-International.com under Race Info on the SCORE Baja 1000 page. Online racer entry applications will be accepted through 5 p.m. PT on Wednesday, November 2.
The SCORE Ensenada office will accept walk-in entries up to Friday, Nov. 4.
EARLY ENTRIES
     With nearly 275 entries anticipated at the start line, as of today 43 total early entries have been received for the Granddaddy of All Desert Races, with racers representing 14 U.S. States, and five countries. The countries are United States, host country Mexico, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
EARLIEST BIRDS
Among the earliest entries for this year’s race is the legendary Hall of Fame racer Larry Roeseler in SCORE Trophy Truck, nternational Australian racers Paul Weel/Toby Price are also entered in SCORE Trophy Truck and action Sports TV announcer Cameron Steele has entered in two of his Desert Assassins entered in SCORE Trophy Truck.
Mexico’s little dynamo Eric Solorzano has entered in his trademark Class 11, racing royal family member Chad Hall will be racing in Trophy Truck Spec with two more Hall family racers, Wayne Matlock and his wife Kristen Matlock are each entered in their own vehicles in Pro UTV Open, third-generation Britney and Tamara Myers will be racing again in Class 10, multi-time age-group motorcycle class champ Giovanni Spinali and his team will be racing in Pro Moto 50 and Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Famer Robbie Pierce is DOR in SCORE TT Legend with Bobby Patton.
55th SCORE BAJA 1000
Most of the world’s best desert racers will be in action at this year’s massive BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts. The 2022 season-finale will be televised on a delayed basis as a one-hour special on ESPN2’s World of X Games programming.
Race week activities will be held Nov. 15-20.
Nearly 275 vehicles are expected at the start line with racers from nearly 40 U.S. States and as many as 20 countries anticipated. Pro and Sportsman classes for cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and quads will be competing in the Granddaddy of All Desert Races.
This year’s SCORE Baja 1000 will be a loop race of a demanding 828.25 miles starting and finishing in Ensenada in the northern state of Mexico’s majestic Baja California peninsula.
Ensenada, “The Off-Road Capital of the World” is a coastal city on the Bahia de Todos Santos area of the Pacific Ocean, 80 miles south of the U.S. border at San Diego.
It will start for the 48th time and finish for the 28th time in Ensenada. This race is annually the finale of the SCORE World Desert Championship, which has been held exclusively for the past seven years in Baja California.
LR ‘MR BAJA’
A racing legend on both sides of the Border, Hall of Famer Larry Roeseler simply goes by Mr. Baja in Mexico. Living in Boulevard, Calif., Roeseler, 65, has been racing in SCORE Baja races since the early 1970s with an unrivaled record of excellence both on two wheels as well as four wheels.
In the SCORE Baja 1000, LR, as he is also known by friends and competitors, has a race-record 14 overalls (including 10 on motorcycles) among his 18 career class wins.
This year Roeseler will again be the solo driver in SCORE Trophy Truck for the No. 43 Cantina Racing Baja Jerky Toyota Tundra built by ID Designs. Last year, Roeseler won the SCORE Baja 500 overall and drove solo to a strong finish in the SCORE Baja 1000 peninsula run. The SCORE Baja 500 victory last year gave him five career SCORE Trophy Truck race wins.
In the 2020 season finale at the SCORE Baja 1000, Roeseler drove the first half of the race for the overall winning Luke McMillin.
In San Felipe this year Roeseler had a rare DNF, he came back in June’s SCORE Baja 500 with another impressive podium finish in third place out of 32 starters and finished 16th out of 34 starters in September’s SCORE Baja 400.
The very popular Roeseler is an inductee into both the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF) (2012) and the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) Hall of Fame (1999).
AUSSIE DOUBLE
Returning after a stunning fifth-place debut out of 34 starters in SCORE Trophy Truck in the recent SCORE Baja 400 will be the Australian duo Paul Weel, 43, and Dakar Rally motorcycle champ Toby Price, 35, in their No. 46 Ford Raptor-Geiser.
Price finished second overall and in SCORE Trophy Truck in the 2019 SCORE Baja 1000 as the second driver from Qatar’s Nasser Al-Atiyah.
Weel is a veteran Australian off-road racer and former supercar driver.
Price is an eight-time KTM factory racer in the Dakar Rally race having won the motorcycle division in both 2016 and 2019 and finishing on the podium in third place in 2015, 2018 and 2020.
DOUBLE DA—DESERT ASSASSINS…
…STEELEY CAM
He may not play a musical instrument or carry a note singing, yet he is another of the many second-generation SCORE desert racers. Cameron ‘Steely Cam’ Steele is not only a two-time SCORE Trophy Truck race winner he is also the affable leader of the Desert Assassins race team.
He also finds time to help operate his SoCal Baja HQ aftermarket company, lead both an annual motorcycle and an annual truck tour down the Baja peninsula, emcee numerous events, host live stream internet shows, and is an action sport TV commentator who has announced a variety of competitions from IndyCar to the X-Games to SCORE race coverage shows.
Steele is the regular intro announcer for the telecasts of the SCORE races.
As far as racing is concerned, Steele, 54, of San Clemente, Calif., loves to stay busy and in years past has competed and had podium finishes in multiple classes in the same race, but now focuses on his No. 16 Monster Energy Desert Assassins Ford Raptor, built by Geiser Bros, in SCORE Trophy Truck.
Steele won the last two SCORE Trophy Truck races of the 2018 (SCORE Desert Challenge and SCORE Baja 1000) season after finishing second in the iconic 50th anniversary of the legendary SCORE Baja 1000 in 2017.
Steele’s second driver will be third-generation champion racer Ryan Arciero, 48, Foothill Ranch, Calif., who has four career SCORE Trophy Truck race wins.
…PLUCKY PECOY
After missing the first two races this year because of business commitments, Bobby Pecoy, 57, Yorba Linda, Calif., a veteran DA racer returns for the SCORE Baja 1000, driving the No. 14 Monster Energy Desert Assassins Ford Raptor, also built by Geiser Bros.
A prominent entrepreneur who spends much of his time in Texas, has several top finishes in SCORE Trophy Truck over the six years he has been racing in the sports’ premier racing class including finishing fourth place with Cameron Steele in last year’s SCORE Baja 1000.
     His second driver for this year’s race will be SCORE champion, Drifting champion, stunt driver and race vehicle builder Rhys Millen, 50, who is originally from New Zealand and lives in Huntington Beach, Calif.
YO 11-11
Eric Solorzano is a legendary Mexican racer who has risen from humble beginnings as an orphan in Tijuana to becoming the winningest Mexican national in SCORE racing history.
Solorzano, 62, is also part of the Class of 2022 to be inducted into the prestigious Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame on Oct. 30 in Las Vegas.
He started racing off-road on motorcycles in local races around Tijuana in 1974 and continued until 1988 when he decided to trade two wheels for four after an injury so he couldn’t continue racing.
He bought his first VW Bug in 1989. His first race was in 1991. He still owns, and races, the same car, more than 30 years later.
Solorzano competes in Class 11, the stock VW class. He first competed in the Mexican Record Series and later SCORE. In SCORE racing, Solorzano has won 11 SCORE season point championships in his No. 1111 VW Sedan and still competes to this day.
A husband and father of eight, Solorzano also has 11 class wins in the SCORE San Felipe 250, nine in the SCORE Baja 1000 and seven in the SCORE Baja 500.
His thousands of fans in Mexico view him as an inspiration for what hard work and preparation can do for a person.
SON OF A LEGEND RETURNS
Chad Hall, 59, Reno, Nev., one of two sons of the late legendary SCORE champion Hall of Famer Rod Hall, returns again to the race his famous father enjoyed for 50 consecutive years, to drive his No. 230 Chevy Performance Samco-Chevy in the Trophy Truck Spec class in the iconic Granddaddy of All Desert Races.
Always an honor to have Hall Racing competing in a SCORE race like it has since the very beginning of the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Organization, Chad Hall has 11 career class wins in the SCORE Baja 1000, including six where he raced with his father Rod Hall.
For this year’s race, Chad Hall will have second and third generation drivers. Besides himself, his son Austin Hall, 34, will be driving along with his older brother Josh Hall, 61, who has four career SCORE Baja 1000 class wins himself.
Family patriarch Rod Hall, who passed away at 81 in 2019, finished his amazing career with a SCORE-record 25 class wins in the SCORE Baja 1000 after racing in the first 50 years of the unbelievable race from 1967 through 2017, a record that will never be beaten.
When he isn’t racing, Chad Hall is the owner of Rod Hall Products of Reno, which designs, tests, manufactures and distributes custom off-road suspension systems.
& MRS. MATLOCK
After many championship seasons and race wins driving in separate classes, Wayne Matlock and his wife Kristen Matlock, of Alpine, Calif. are entered in the same class for the 2022 SCORE World Desert Championship.
Both are racing in the Pro UTV Open class in separate (but equal) new Polaris RZR Pro R UTVs. Each vehicle has a chassis built by TSCO in El Cajon, Calif. Wayne pilots the No. 1871 Polaris RZR Pro R UTV and Kristen is behind the wheel of the No. 1854 Polaris RZR Pro R UTV.
In the SCORE Baja 1000, Wayne Matlock, 44, has seven career class wins (2005, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2018) including several in quads before moving to UTV classes.
Kristen Matlock, 41, who has been racing many far less years than her husband, has earned one UTV class wins in this race (2019) in the Pro UTV NA (Naturally Aspirated) class.
In their simultaneous debut in the Pro UTV Open class in this year’s SCORE San Felipe 250, Wayne Matlock was the fastest of all the UTVs in four classes including winning his class while Kristen Matlock finished in seventh place out of 10 starters in their class.
In this year’s SCORE Baja 500, Wayne Matlock suffered a dnf while Kristen finished in fourth place in their Pro UTV Open class. In September’s SCORE Baja 400, Wayne Matlock endured another dnf while Kristen finished on the podium in third place.
In the Pro UTV season points, Kristen Matlock is currently in fourth place while Wayne Matlock is in fifth.
MYERS SISTERS
Racing together again this year in Class 10 are third-generation desert racers Britney Myers, 27, and Tamara Myers, 28, in their No. 1023 Toyota Escondido Motorsports Jimco-Chevy.
This season, the Myers sisters are 12th out of 30 total starters in Class 10. The had a dnf in San Felipe, finished 17th out of 26 starters in the SCORE Baja 500 and 14th out of 18 starters in September’s SCORE Baja 400.
Their father (Steve Myers) and two uncles (Dan Myers and Andrew Myers) are all expected to be racing as well again this year in two trucks in the marquee SCORE Trophy Truck division.
SPINALI TEAM
His name sounds like he should be from Italy, but Giovanni Spinali, 56, is from El Cajon, Calif. and is back with another championship team in the Pro Moto 50 (riders over 50 years old).
Co-riders for Spinali in this year’s SCORE Baja 1000 are Jim O’Neal, 75, Simi Valley, Calif., Troy Pearce, 55, Ramona, Calif., and John Griffin, 55, Lake Forrest, Calif., Bill Sauro, 52, Murrieta, Calif. and Robby Naughton, 56, Flagstaff, Ariz.
In San Felipe to open the 2022 season, Spinali and Co. finished second and followed that by winning his class in the SCORE Baja 500 and the SCORE Baja 400 in Pro Moto 50. Spinali is currently leading his class point standings.
Spinali and his team were undefeated during their championship season last year in Pro Moto 50 which earned him his fourth SCORE season class point championship (2014, 2018, 2019, 2021).
Spinali has two class wins in his class in the SCORE Baja 1000 (2018, 2021) and will be leading his team again, riding his No. 500x Yamaha YZ450FX motorcycle this year.
FASTBALL RACING
When it comes to ‘Big Cheese’ racing it doesn’t get much stronger than this pairing as Robbie Pierce and Bobby Patton have teamed up again to race their All-Wheel Drive No. 30L Chevy Silverado built by Jimco in SCORE TT Legend for drivers over 50 years old.
Pierce, 63, Alpine, Calif., is the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame inductee and long-time business entrepreneur who owns the legendary Jimco Racing Products and Patton, 61, Fort Worth, Texas, the prominent oil baron, business owner and co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers professional baseball team, are back to lead the Fastball Racing team whose livery is, of course, Dodger Blue.
The third man behind the wheel for this race down the Baja peninsula will be veteran SCORE racer Barry Karakas, Oak Hills, Calif.
PRE-RUNNING
Pre-running on the official race course of 828.25 miles will open on Saturday, Oct. 29.
The first section of the race course to the Ojos Negro area will not be available for pre-running from the start until Wednesday of race week when it will be open only for vehicles traveling outbound.
SCORE LIVE
During contingency on Wednesday and Thursday and the race on Friday until the course closes on Sunday early morning, live streaming will be broadcasting race activities and start and finish line interviews as well as live action from around the race course. Popular Rat Sult, who has been the voice of SCORE over the last seven seasons, will once again serve as host and lead announcer of the expansive SCORE Live streaming. Assisting Sult will be veteran voice Dave Arnold.

STARTING POSITIONS
For this year’s SCORE Baja 1000, starting positions for all entries that raced in September’s SCORE Baja 400, finishing positions determined their respective starting positions if they have fully entered by the close of online racer registration on Nov. 2.
All entries that arrive by Nov. 2 online or by Nov. 4 in person (SCORE Ensenada Office), will be placed in a drawing for start positions with the results being posted on the SCORE website on Thursday, Nov. 10.
After that date, late, on-site racer registration will be held in the Red Room at the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in Ensenada for three days on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (Nov. 15-17). All late, on-site entries will receive the next available starting position within their respective classes.
THE RACE COURSE
The 828.25-mile race course for the BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts, runs in a clockwise after the first part to and then back and back from Ojos Negros. It goes up and over the Cordillera de Molina to drop into the desert around Rm 115.
After reaching the Ventana area it will run south to the El Chinero road crossing highway 3 at Km 192 and will keep going south to Matomi wash. Halfway into Matomi Wash it exits and goes north to Azufre Wash, then to Huatamote wash, Chanate Wash and up to Morelia Junction.
From there the course will exit the desert and go to San Matias Pass road and Mike’s Sky Rancho, down to Rancho La Jolla and will run on the San Pedro Martir road to Meling Ranch. After Meling it will run to the Pacific Coast to Ejido Jaramillo and north to San Vicente where it will cross back to Valley de Trinidad then back to Ojos Negros and onto to the finish line in Ensenada.
For safety reasons, all of the Sportsman classes along with Class 11 and Class 7SX will run a reduced course of 782.49 miles.

GREEN FLAG
The SCORE Baja 1000 will be an elapsed-time race with staggered starts as the green flag on Friday, November 18 will drop first for the motorcycles and quads at 3:30 a.m. (PT) and 9:15 a.m. (PT) for the cars, trucks and UTVs. While the fastest vehicles are expected to finish in around 17 hours, all vehicles will have a 36-hour time limit to become official finishers in the elapsed-time race.

GRAND MARSHAL—SCOT HARDEN
SCORE has announced that the Grand Marshal for the BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts, will be Hall of Fame SCORE motorcycle champion Scot Harden.
Harden, 66, born and raised in Las Vegas and currently living in Menifee, Calif., is a legendary professional desert motorcycle racer with a 50-year career as a world champion racer and motorcycle industry executive.
In his racing career Harden captured two SCORE Baja 1000 overall victories, three SCORE Baja 500 wins, two wins in the SCORE Parker 400, one Mexicali 300 win and he also won the 1979 SCORE Pro Moto Unlimited (Class 22) season point championship. In addition, he has numerous overalls at other major desert events,
In international competition Harden is a three-time International Six-Day Enduro (ISDE) medalist, earning a gold, silver and bronze in the early 1980s. In 1987 he became the first America to win a North African Raid Rallye winning the Djerba Rally in Tunisia. He later led the KTM/Redbull US Dakar effort in 2004/05 as Team Mgr. and rider.
Harden’s impact on motorcycling is not limited to racing as he has also held sales and marketing executive positions at Husqvarna, KTM, BMW, and Zero Motorcycles.
As a result of his illustrious career, he has been inducted into three halls of fame, the American Motorcyclist Association Hall of Fame in 2008, the Trailblazers HOF in 2020 and the Hot Shoe HOF in 2020.
Currently, in addition to mentoring young upcoming riders and hosting a variety of trail rides, Harden  co-produces with legendary SCORE Baja motorcycle champion Johnny Campbell the annual ‘Handstands at 100mph’ charity event honoring desert and Baja motorcycle racing legends and the community that surrounds it.
