     ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico—With official pre-running on the official race course opening at 8 a.m. PT on Saturday for racers across the U.S. and around the world, Bryce Menzies, Justin Davis, Brendan Gaughan, Justin Lambert, Mike Cafro, Joe Bolton, Luke McMillin, Dan McMillin, AJ Jones, Faelly Lopez and PJ Jones are all among the newest entries for November’s iconic internationally-televised season-ending BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts, the season finale of the four-race 2022 SCORE World Desert Championship.
    Starting and finishing in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, race-week festivities and the race itself will be held Nov. 15-20.
This year’s race will be a loop race of 828.25 miles around Baja California, starting and finishing in Ensenada.
NUMERO UNO
The SCORE Baja 1000 is at the pinnacle of motorsports as the most iconic, oldest, prestigious, toughest and longest continuously held desert race in the world.
PRE-RUNNING
Pre-running on the official race course of 828.25 miles will open at 8 a.m. PT this Saturday, Oct. 29.
The first section of the race course to the Ojos Negro area will not be available for pre-running from the start until Wednesday of race week when it will be open only for vehicles traveling outbound.
This year’s course map is available on the SCORE website under race info on the SCORE Baja 1000 page at www.SCORE-International.com.

     The preliminary Racer’s Brief, Penalty Bulletin, Course Notes and GPS files along with the official course map will be available on the SCORE website under Race Info at 6 p.m. PT tonight (Thursday, Oct. 27).
BAJA RUTA MUY ESPECIAL!
Identified, designed and plotted by SCORE President/Race Director Abelardo Grijalva, the 828.25-mile race course for the BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts, runs in a clockwise direction after the first part to and then back from Ojos Negros.
The magnificent course features three physical, full-stop checkpoints and 285 virtual checkpoints. The course also has 18 speed zones for a total of 70.6 race miles.
Checkpoint 1 is at race-mile 200.22 (El Chinero), Checkpoint 2 is at rm 579.98 (Ejido Jaramillo) and Checkpoint 3 is at race-mile 726.57 (El Alamo).
After Ojos Negros, the course goes up and over the Cordillera de Molina to drop into the desert around Rm 115.
After reaching the La Ventana area it will run south to the El Chinero road crossing highway 3 at Km 192 and will keep going south to Matomi Wash. Halfway into Matomi Wash it exits and goes north to Azufre Wash, then to Huatamote wash, Chanate Wash and up to Morelia Junction.
From there the course will exit the desert and go to San Matias Pass road and Mike’s Sky Rancho, down to Rancho La Jolla and will run on the San Pedro Martir road to Meling Ranch. After Meling it will run to the Pacific Coast to Ejido Jaramillo and north to just below San Vicente where it will cross back to Valley de Trinidad then back to Ojos Negros and onto to the finish line in Ensenada.
For safety reasons, all of the Sportsman 4 Wheel Vehicle classes along with Class 11 and Class 7SX will run a reduced course of 695.79 miles and the Sportsman Motorcycle and Quad classes will race on a reduced course of 760.91 miles.
NEWEST ENTRIES
     With nearly 275 entries anticipated at the start line, as of today 162 total entries have been received for the Granddaddy of All Desert Races, with racers representing 31 U.S. States, the U.S. Territory of Puerto Rico and nine countries. The countries with at least one racer so far are United States, host country Mexico, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, India, New Zealand and Peru.
DOUBLE DIGITS
Leading the list of entries with double-digit lineups so far are SCORE Trophy Truck with 31 entries (including seven in SCORE TT Legend for drivers over 50 years old), Pro UTV FI (Forced Induction) with 15, Trophy Truck Spec with 13 and among two wheels, Pro Moto Ironman (solo riders) with 21 entries to date.

55th SCORE BAJA 1000
Most of the world’s best desert racers will be in action at this year’s massive BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts. The 2022 season-finale will be televised on a delayed basis as a one-hour special on ESPN2’s World of X Games programming.
Race week activities will be held Nov. 15-20.
Nearly 275 vehicles are expected at the start line with racers from nearly 35 U.S. States and as many as 15 countries anticipated. Pro and Sportsman classes for cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and quads will be competing in the Granddaddy of All Desert Races.
This year’s SCORE Baja 1000 will be a loop race of a demanding 828.25 miles starting and finishing in Ensenada in the northern state of Mexico’s majestic Baja California peninsula.
Ensenada, “The Off-Road Capital of the World” is a coastal city on the Bahia de Todos Santos area of the Pacific Ocean, 80 miles south of the U.S. border at San Diego.
It will start for the 48th time in Ensenada and finish there for the 28th time. This race is annually the finale of the SCORE World Desert Championship, which has been held exclusively for the past seven years in Baja California.

AWD MENZIES/A. McMILLIN
A one-time protégé of Rob MacCachren, Las Vegas’ Bryce Menzies has molded his own substantial career in desert racing and rally racing out of the Menzies Motorsports race shop in his hometown. For this year’s SCORE Baja 1000 he has put together a Super Team with San Diego’s Andy McMillin as his second driver for the third consecutive year.
Menzies, 35, literally exploded onto the SCORE desert racing scene in 2011 winning the SCORE Overall point championship, the SCORE Trophy Truck season point crown, two individual race wins and was voted as the 2011 SCORE Rookie of the Year.
Menzies has eight career SCORE Trophy Truck race wins, the most recent being in September when he won the SCORE Baja 400 for the second straight year.
A great start that has evolved into branching out into short-course racing, rally race, long-jump record feats and rock-crawling victories.
In 2016 Menzies made history by jumping his off-road truck 115.6m (379.4ft) over a New Mexico ghost town to set a new truck distance record.
With eight career SCORE Trophy Truck race wins, Menzies is obviously among the favorites in his No. 7 Red Bull Menzies Motorsports Ford Raptor all-wheel drive SCORE Trophy Truck built by Mason Motorsports. Teaming with Andy McMillin makes them an even greater favorite.
Andy McMillin, 35, whose cousins Dan McMillin and Luke McMillin are also entered in separate trucks in the massive SCORE Trophy Truck field, won his first SCORE Trophy Truck race when he was the second driver for Robby Gordon in the 2006 SCORE Baja 1000.
Andy McMillin is tied for second with 11 career SCORE Trophy Truck race wins and he was the 2019 season point championship.
GREEN ARMY MOTORSPORTS
Justin Davis, 29, of Chino Hills, Calif., is leading Green Army Motorsports into Baja as the driver of record in the No. 233 Green Army Motorsports Brenthel-Chevy in the Trophy Truck Spec class.
His younger brother Jeremy Davis, 22, also of Chino Hills, will be the second driver in the team’s truck. Tyler Peterson will be the third driver if needed.
A race winner and a season point champion in several different SCORE racing classes, Justin Davis, a second-generation SCORE desert racer, has two career SCORE season class point championships (2010, 2011).
Justin Davis had a rare DNF is the San Felipe 2022 season opener and finished 12th out of 32 starters in Trophy Truck Spec in Round 2 at the SCORE Baja 500 in June and also had a DNF in September’s SCORE Baja 400.
Justin Davis has five class wins in the SCORE Baja 1000 in three different classes. In 2010 he won in SCORE Lites, 2011 and 2014 in Class 1 and 2016 and 2020 in Class 10. Jeremy Davis was the driver of record in their 2020 Class 10 win.
In this year’s SCORE Baja 400, Jeremy Davis won Class 2 in a custom-built, Chevy-powered open-wheel desert race car.
CITY LIGHT SHINE
Prominent Las Vegas businessman, former NASCAR star and second-generation desert racer Brendan Gaughan is back in his desert racing roots again as he has entered the unlimited Class 1 for this year’s SCORE Baja 400.
The gregarious and very personable Gaughan, 47, is a veteran of 23 years of driving in NASCAR’s three elite division including the top tier Cup Series along with the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the NASCAR Truck Series.
In 2019 Gaughan returned to his roots for an emotional Class 1 victory in the 2019 SCORE Baja 1000. Also driving that race with Gaughan were R.J. Anderson, Buddy Feldkamp and Billy Gereghty.
Driving South Point Hotel/Casino (Las Vegas) vehicles, Gaughan had 67 starts over nine seasons in the Cup series, 219 starts over 10 seasons in the Xfinity series and 217 in the Truck series over 14 seasons. He retired from NASCAR racing officially after the 2020 season.
Gaughan, who also is a part of numerous national radio programs, is the son of legendary Las Vegas hotel/casino magnate and former SCORE champion and Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame inductee Michael Gaughan.
Owner of City Light Shine (17A distillery) in Las Vegas, Gaughan will be the driver of record in the No. 162 South Point Hotel HMS-Chevy. Gaughan is also an administrative executive at the South Point Hotel Casino in Las Vegas.
CLS (produced by 17A Stillery) is the first and only legal distillery in the history of Las Vegas.
Second driver with Gaughan in this race will be third-gen SCORE racer Jordan Dean, 26, Henderson, Nev., whose father Pat Dean will be racing with Las Vegas’ Tim Herbst in SCORE Trophy Truck. Jordan’s grandfather and Pat’s father, Butch Dean, is part of the Class of 22 to be inducted into the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame in late October in Las Vegas.
The team’s third driver for this year’s race will be second-gen SCORE racer Buddy Feldkamp, 42, Redlands, Calif.
Gaughan has been plagued with issues this year of various kinds and has three very unfortunate DNFs so far.
COGNITO MOTORSPORTS
With SCORE races limited as he continues to expand his Cognito Motorsports aftermarket products company in Bakersfield, Calif., Justin Lambert, 46, started the season an impressive Pro UTV FI (Forced Induction) victory at the SCORE San Felipe 250 over 29 starters in his class.
Driving his No. 2918 Cognito Motorsports Polaris RZR XP4 Turbo S, he is also third in SCORE Pro UTV FI points, just two points out of first place after the first three rounds of the four-race 2022 SCORE World Desert Championship.
He finished 14th out of 24 starters in his class in the SCORE Baja 500 and then finished ninth out of 23 starters in the SCORE Baja 400 to keep him in line as a championship contender in the highly-competitive UTV class in the SCORE World Desert Championship.
CAFRO
A veteran of nearly 30 years of SCORE racing, champion racer and Polaris Factory racer Mike Cafro, 52, Temecula, Calif. (originally from Fallbrook, Calif.), is entered in the Pro UTV Open class in his No. 1876 Mike Cafro Racing (MCR) Polaris RZR Pro Turbo S.
His teammate and second driver is Jamie Kirkpatrick, 42, Olympia, Wash. as the duo has finished a solid second place on the podium in both races in 2022 to lead the point standings in their class.
Last year, Cafro and Kirkpatrick had an amazing season in the Pro UTV Stock class, going undefeated in four races, including the 2021 SCORE Baja 400, to win the season point title in a Polaris RZR Turbo S.
Cafro started racing with SCORE with his brother Carmen as his teammate and they had numerous class wins on three-wheel ATVs early in their careers and then Mike’s passion had him winning races and titles in domestic series across the U.S. on a four-wheel quad.
     This season he has had a pair of second place finishes before winning his class in the SCORE Baja 400 to literally put him in the driver’s seat for another SCORE class season point championship.
BOLTON FATHER/SON
Another successful paring of a father and son team in SCORE racing, former vet motorcycle champion Joe Bolton, 65, and his son Austin, 27, are leading the SCORE point standings this year in the Pro UTV NA (Naturally Aspirated) class.
So far in 2022, the Boltons won the season opener in their class and finished second in both this year’s SCORE Baja 500 and the SCORE Baja 400 to maintain his lead in his class point standings entering the season finale.
Joe Bolton raced SCORE motorcycles when he was younger and his biggest class win was when he won the Pro Moto Limited class in the 1985 SCORE Baja 1000.
The Boltons are sharing the driving in the No. 1957 Polaris RZR XP1000 UTV this season.
WRIGHT WAY
Following several seasons co-rider on winning Pro motorcycle age group classes, Brandon Wright, 46, Oak Hills, Calif. not only won the Pro Moto Ironman (for solo riders) class in this year’s King Shocks SCORE San Felipe 250 over 10 starters in his class, he continues to lead the class point standings with second-place finishes in the other two SCORE Baja races this year.
Wright rides the No. 750x Husqvarna FE501 motorcycle.
At the finish line in San Felipe, the victorious Wright said following his first SCORE Pro Ironman win, “It was really rough the whole way. I did pretty well for most of the time and was just trying to decide what pace to keep as I wasn’t sure where my competition was at. I was just trying to stay comfortable and everything was going well until about 15 miles to the finish when the whoops finally hit me. I thought I was done. I was just on survival mode at that point. But I made it. And I won my class!”
For this year’s SCORE Baja 1000, there are already 21 entries in the Pro Moto Ironman class and Wright is being chased closely by Canada’s Aaron Richardson, 50, who has finishes of second, first and fourth so far in 2022 and only six points separate the two dedicated racers.
McMILLIN & the G.O.A.T.
     Teaming up again as another ‘Super Team’ in SCORE Trophy Truck are a growing superstar and the G.O.A.T. of off-road racing as Luke McMillin, 29, and Rob MacCachren, 57, are racing together again for this year’s race. The truck will be the same McMillin Racing No. 83 all-wheel drive 4 Wheel Parts Chevy 1500 built by Mason Motorsports but the difference this year is that Luke McMillin will be the driver of record and MacCachren will be the second driver.
     Together, the dynamite duo won last year’s SCORE Baja 1000, a grueling peninsula run, with MacCachren as DOR. That victory earned Rob Mac his fourth career SCORE Trophy Truck season point championship and Luke McMillin’s second straight SCORE Baja 1000 overall victory. He won in 2020 with Larry Roeseler as his second driver.
     Starting this season with an overall victory at the SCORE San Felipe 250, Luke McMillin was sixth in the SCORE Baja 500 in SCORE Trophy Truck and second in the SCORE Baja 400 to move back into the point lead in his class.
The pairing for this race has the top two point leaders as MacCachren is second in season points after a fourth place, first place and 11th place in SCORE Trophy Truck in the first three races of the year.
McMILLIN & DANIEL
The third driver of the three-generation of McMillin family racers from the Big Blue Machine, San Diego’s Dan McMillin, 35, has teamed up with Josh Daniel, 47, Bonsall, Calif., for another ‘Super Team’ in the massive SCORE Trophy Truck lineup for this race.
Dan McMillin won the 2020 SCORE Baja 500 which was held in San Felipe and he drives the AWD No. 23 4 Wheel Parts Chevy 1500 built by Mason Motorsports.
Dan McMillin finished 22nd in the season-opening SCORE San Felipe 250, 10th in the SCORE Baja 500 and third place in the recent SCORE Baja 400.
Daniel is a veteran SCORE racer and has earned one career SCORE Trophy Truck race win when he raced as an alternate driver for RPM Racing’s Justin Matney in the 2017 SCORE Desert Challenge in Tijuana, Mexico.
AJ RETURNS
Second-generation SCORE desert racer Austin ‘AJ’ Jones, 26, Litchfield Park, Ariz., is returning to SCORE following a major splash in 2019 followed by his move into Rally Raid racing where he won his UTV class this year in the famous Dakar Rally. AJ Jones is the son of SCORE champion racer Jesse Jones who won the 2010 SCORE Trophy Truck season point championship.
AJ Jones started his career in racing early, first taking the co-driver seat as his father Jesse's navigator in 2018 as the age of 22. It wasn’t long until a young Jones moved into the driver’s seat, making a name for himself almost immediately in SCORE Baja racing.
Racing in the Trophy Truck Spec Class he won his class in several races, including the SCORE San Felipe 250, SCORE Baja 500 and the SCORE Baja 1000. AJ Jones was voted the 2019 SCORE 2019 Rookie of the Year.
For this year’s SCORE Baja 1000, AJ Jones will be driving in Portugal’s Factory South Racing No. 2985 Can-Am X3 in the Pro UTV FI class. Jones is a Monster-sponsored athlete and his second driver for this race will be Brazil’s veteran rally racer Gustavo Gugelmin who is AJ’s navigator in the Dakar Rally.
‘PUERTO RICAN FORCE’ LOPEZ
Faelly Lopez, 39, San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, rides the No. 83a Honda TRX450R in Pro Quad Ironman, a class in the SCORE World Desert Championship that was introduced last year.
After not being able to finish his first SCORE race at last year’s SCORE Baja 1000 that went down the peninsula from Ensenada to La Paz, Lopez has recovered and is undefeated in all three 2022 SCORE races and he also leads the current points standings in Pro Quad Ironman.
In the SCORE San Felipe 250 in April, the ‘Puerto Rican Force’ he rode solo and covered the 277-mile race course in a time of nine hours, 47 minutes and 10 seconds.
In June’s SCORE Baja 500, Lopez survived again and completed the rugged 463.12-mile course, again riding solo on his Honda, in a time of 18:35:46.
In the SCORE Baja 400 in September, Lopez rode solo to complete the challenging 393.82-mile race route in 12:40:38.
ANOTHER JONES
Son of a legend, PJ Jones has carved his own niche as a race-car driver while racing in the shadow of his very famous father Parnelli Jones, a former Indy 500 and SCORE Baja 1000 winner. The younger Jones races in the Pro UTV FI (Forced Induction) class.
PJ Jones, 52, lives in Cave Creek, Arizona and his driving career includes multiple disciplines of motorsports including NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA, American Le Mans Series, USAC, the Chili Bowl and Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Trucks.
A regular in SCORE Baja racing, he owns PJ’s Performance in Scottsdale, Ariz. In the SCORE Baja 1000 PJ Jones will be the driver of record in the No. 2998 Can-Am X3.
In the San Felipe 2022 season opener, PJ Jones finished on the podium in third place out of 29 starters in his class.  In the SCORE Baja 500 he finished 13th in class out of 24 starters.
Jones splits the driving with Kyle Vestermark, 51, Aliso Viejo, Calif.
SCORE LIVE
During contingency on Wednesday and Thursday and the race on Friday until the course closes on Sunday early morning, live streaming will be broadcasting race activities and start and finish line interviews as well as live action from Drones, ground cameras and in-car cameras from around the race course.
Popular Rat Sult, who has been the voice of SCORE over the last seven seasons, will once again serve as host and lead announcer of the expansive SCORE Live streaming. Assisting Sult will be veteran voice Dave Arnold.
Sult and Arnold will be announcing from the SCORE start/finish ramp while the show will also include SCORE studio announcers back at in El Cajon, Calif., providing live info and updates throughout the race.

STARTING POSITIONS
For this year’s SCORE Baja 1000, starting positions for all entries that raced in September’s SCORE Baja 400, finishing positions determined their respective starting positions if they have fully entered by the close of online racer registration on Nov. 2.
All entries that arrive by Nov. 2 online or by Nov. 4 in person (SCORE Ensenada Office), will be placed in a drawing for start positions with the results being posted on the SCORE website on Thursday, Nov. 10.
After that date, late, on-site racer registration will be held in the Red Room at the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in Ensenada for three days on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (Nov. 15-17). All late, on-site entries will receive the next available starting position within their respective classes.
GREEN FLAG
The SCORE Baja 1000 will be an elapsed-time race with staggered starts as the green flag on Friday, November 18 will drop first for the motorcycles and quads at 3:30 a.m. (PT) and 9:15 a.m. (PT) for the cars, trucks and UTVs. While the fastest vehicles are expected to finish in around 17 hours, all vehicles will have a 36-hour time limit to become official finishers in the elapsed-time race.
A HAPPENING…
Colorful race week festivities will start on Tuesday, Nov. 15 to help celebrate this epic SCORE Baja race. They will be held in or adjacent to the landmark Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in the heart of Ensenada.
Chassis inspections, pre-tech/Stella device check and installation will be held on Tuesday (Nov. 15) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT north of the start/finish ramp.
Wednesday (Nov. 16) and Thursday (Nov. 17) will see the colorful two-day, pre-race Manufacturer’s Midway and contingency festival in the start finish line area. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT on both days, contingency row will be held with motorcycles, quads and a few car/truck classes on Wednesday and the remainder of the classes, including SCORE Trophy Truck on Thursday.
Tech inspection/Transponder checks/Stella/SPICA device pickup on both days will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. PT as well at the end of the manufacturer’s row.
During the race on Friday, Nov. 18 until the course closes on early Sunday morning, Nov. 20, the start/finish line compound will include the massive double-sided SCOREvision LED screen broadcasting race festivities, the start, live race drone, ground-camera and in-car camera action from around the course and finish line interviews.
AT THE RIVIERA…
The historic Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center, in the heart of Ensenada, will again be the site of many of the activities surrounding the BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts. Racer registration and media registration will both be held in Salon Rojo on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (Nov. 15-17).
On Tuesday (Nov. 15) racer registration will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. PT. On Wednesday (Nov. 16) it will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT and on Thursday (Nov. 17) it will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT.
On Wednesday, no new entries will be accepted after 4 p.m. PT and on Thursday after 3 p.m. PT.
SCORE Media Registration will be held in Salon Rojo at the Riviera on Tuesday (Nov. 15) from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. PT and on both Wednesday (Nov. 16) and Thursday (Nov. 17) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT.
There will be two pre-race mandatory racer’s meetings, both being held in the Cathedral Room at the Riviera CC. The first one, for racers in motorcycle and quad classes will be on Wednesday (Nov. 16) at 6 p.m. PT and the second one, for racers in car/truck/UTV classes will be held on Thursday (Nov. 17) at 7 p.m. PT.
The pre-race SCORE Media Conference will be held on Thursday (Nov. 17) at 11:30 a.m. in the Cathedral Room at the Riviera CC.

GRAND MARSHAL—SCOT HARDEN
SCORE has announced that the Grand Marshal for the BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts, will be Hall of Fame SCORE motorcycle champion Scot Harden.
Harden, 66, born and raised in Las Vegas and currently living in Menifee, Calif., is a legendary professional desert motorcycle racer with a 50-year career as a world champion racer and motorcycle industry executive.
In his racing career Harden captured two SCORE Baja 1000 overall victories, three SCORE Baja 500 wins, two wins in the SCORE Parker 400, one Mexicali 300 win and he also won the 1979 SCORE Pro Moto Unlimited (Class 22) season point championship. In addition, he has numerous overalls at other major desert events,
In international competition Harden is a three-time International Six-Day Enduro (ISDE) medalist, earning a gold, silver and bronze in the early 1980s.
As a result of his illustrious career, Harden has been inducted into three halls of fame, the American Motorcyclist Association Hall of Fame in 2008, the Trailblazers HOF in 2020 and the Hot Shoe HOF in 2020.

ESPN TV NETWORKS AGAIN IN 2022
For the fourth straight year, the 2022 SCORE World Desert Championship races will air on the ESPN family of networks. The four-races will air as specials on the World of X Games program on ESPN2.
ABC first covered the 1967 and 1968 Baja 1000 races on the old ABC Wide World of Sports show with Jim McKay and again in the late 1980s with veteran motorsports journalists Sam Posey and Jack Arute.
All of the SCORE race coverage shows also continue to air internationally in nearly 25 countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America and South America via syndication and ESPN International. The shows are co-produced by SCORE International and SoCal’s award-winning BCII TV.
