final round of four-race 2022 SCORE World Desert Championship
WHEN:     Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 15-20, 2022
WHERE:   Start/Finish: Ensenada-Baja California, Mexico adjacent to Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center
WHO:        Over 275 entries with racers from 40 U.S. States, 20 countries expected in Pro and Sportsman classes for cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and quads.
COURSE:     TOTAL MILEAGE: 828.25 miles (3 physical checkpoints, 285 virtual checkpoints plus the finish line). Start/Finish adjacent to the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in Ensenada, Baja California. SCORE has put together another memorable race course, with all of the foreboding, unforgiving terrain the mysterious Baja California peninsula has to offer. It features a course, designed and plotted by SCORE President/Race Director Jose A. Grijalva, of 828.25 miles of rugged Baja California terrain. The challenging race course is another memorable example of all that Mexico’s majestic Baja California peninsula has to offer, including high-speed dirt trails, sandy, rocky and silty natural terrain, beautiful Baja washes and canyons, stretches along the ocean and the seashore with elevations from sea level to over 4,000 feet. The course is another jewel reflecting the stark beauty of Baja California. The magnificent course features three physical, full-stop checkpoints and 285 virtual checkpoints. The course also has 18 speed zones for a total of 70.6 race miles. After running up to and then back from Ojos Negros to the finish, the course goes in a clockwise direction. It starts up and over the Cordillera de Molina to drop into the desert around Rm 115. After reaching the La Ventana area it will run south to the El Chinero road crossing highway 3 at Km 192 and will keep going south to Matomi wash. Halfway into Matomi Wash it exits and goes north to Azufre Wash, then to Huatamote wash, Chanate Wash and up to Morelia Junction. From there the course will exit the desert and go to San Matias Pass road and Mike’s Sky Rancho, down to Rancho La Jolla and will run on the San Pedro Martir road to Meling Ranch. After Meling it will run to the Pacific Coast to Ejido Jaramillo and north to just below San Vicente where it will cross back to Valley de Trinidad then back to Ojos Negros and onto to the finish line in Ensenada.
The three physical (full stop) checkpoints will be Checkpoint No. 1 at El Chinero (race mile 200.22), Checkpoint No. 2 at Ejido Jaramillo  (race mile 579.98) and Checkpoint No. 3 at El Alamo (race mile 726.57).
For safety reasons, all of the Sportsman 4 Wheel Vehicle classes along with Class 11 and Class 7SX will run a reduced course of 695.79 miles and the Sportsman Motorcycle and Quad classes will race on a reduced course of 760.91 miles.

SCORE SUPER LEGENDS
This year’s race also commemorates the achievements of legendary desert racers like Rod Hall, Ron Bishop, Johnny Johnson, Larry Roeseler and Johnny Campbell. Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Famer Hall, who passed away at 81 in June of 2019, left an indelible mark in desert racing. He had a race-record 25 class wins (including one overall win in 1969), and is the only racer who competed in all the first 50 SCORE Baja 1000 races. Bishop, who died in 2014, is the only racer who competed in the first 40 SCORE Baja 1000 races on a motorcycle. Johnson, now retired Hall of Famer, had 15 class wins, amazingly in eight different classes.
Roeseler, still racing as a member of the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame already, has 18 class wins in this race, including a race-record 14 overall wins (10 on a motorcycle). Roeseler will drive solo this year in the No. 43 Baja Jerky Toyota Tundra. Campbell has a race-record 11 overall motorcycle wins in this race. Campbell is not racing this year.
