SCORE Mourns passing of Mike Stapleton

We have lost another key member of our SCORE family today (Dec. 1, 2023) with the passing of the legendary mechanic and crew member Mike Stapleton of SCORE multi-time champion Wilson Motorsports which is based Long Beach, Calif.

     For over 20 years Mike toiled with one of the greatest families in the history of motorsports before passing away today after a lengthy battle with cancer.

     Mike was well-known and well-respected in the desert racing community, especially in SCORE desert racing.

     He was honored three-times as the SCORE Mechanic of the Year in 2001, 2009, and 2012.

     We are sure that he enjoyed Wilson Motorsports Class 1 victory in this year’s SCORE Baja 1000 with longtime team driver Kyle Quinn as the driver of record.

     Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and everyone at Wilson Motorsports especially Norm Wilson, Rick Wilson, Randy Wilson, Ronny Wilson, Brian Wilson, Brad Wilson, and Kyle Quinn.
